Description: The Inquiry model is a teaching model designed to make students feel more comfortable with the scientific method. Students become more comfortable with the scientific method through this model because students process, describe, and explain an instance they have observed.
Reflection on in-class presentation: In class we were presented with an example of the Inquiry Model in a second grade science class. This model was the best to be used in this class because it helps younger students become familiar with the scientific method. The teachers began the lesson by showing the students a short video, then reviewed a PowerPoint about pollution with the class. After the PowerPoint review the teachers instructed the students to get into their groups and start a four step activity/experiment about pollution. The teachers helped the students throughout all the steps, then lead the class in a discussion about their findings.
