Description: The Problem Based model is a teaching model that uses problems as the focus of the lesson to develop student's problem solving skills, content, and self-regulation.
Reflection on in-class presentation: The in class presentation for the Problem Based model was done in a 5th grade science class. At the beginning of this class the students were given worksheets and throughout the lesson the students are expected to fill in the blanks on the worksheet in an effort to understand heat transfer. During this lesson the students are broken into three groups and go around the room watching as different heat sources attempt to bake a cake. The students watch as all three heat sources cook and after the experiment was over they go back to their seats and record their findings on the worksheet. After the students finish their worksheet, the teachers review the findings and then give a quiz to conclude the class.
